Tidbit quotes: "It took me 90 years to get an official birthday hat (thanks to Benny & Lisa last years) and now this year I may not remember your name, I might "rake my hair", "mow my face" and call Frances "Harold", but I still love ice cream, know my own name and date of birth, I thank God for my food and tell Frances to "be careful" each day when she leaves.
I was so anxious to join the Navy..so much that I got a friend to sign for me because I wasn't old enough to join. It was wonderful at first; I had my first indoor shower, a bed to myself and good hot meals. I was even a cook.. then I became just as anxious to get out. I went to work at a gas station on Williams Road and made $15 a week. Later I drove a truck for Wilson Meat Company, Sealtest Ice Cream (yum, yum).
