Ronald Wayne Hodges, 65, of Roanoke died Sunday, May 14, 2017. He was born June 28, 1951 a son of the late Carl Dennis Hodges and Myrtle Irene Slocum Hodges.

Surviving him are a sister, Pat Hylton and husband, Elvin “Shorty”; niece, Lisa McDaniel; step-nephew, Roger Hylton and family; numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to all the medical staff with Lewis Gale Radiation Department, the Infusion Center, Lewis Gale Physicians, especially Dr. Karr and Salem Health & Rehab, who cared for Ronald and the countless people who supported the family throughout his illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to either, The American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or Brentwood Baptist Church, 3912 Plantation Road, Roanoke, Va. 24012.

A celebration of Ronald’s life will be conducted 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Lotz Funeral Home, 1001 Franklin Road, Roanoke with Pastor Rodney Spears officiating. Burial will follow at Monte Vista Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.
