William (Bill) Robert Duncan passed away on March 5, 2023. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 19,1946 to the late Bernard and Alberta Duncan. Bill is also preceded in death by his sister Joan Pickering
Bill graduated from Warrensville Heights High School in Cleveland, nOhio. Bill married Christine Yates (Updike). Bill then went on to serve his country with the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam War.After returning from the war, Bill and Chris grew their family and moved to Roanoke, Virginia.
Bill is survived by his three children Michael Duncan ( wife Stephanie), Laura Duncan, and Jennifer Duncan Guffey (Gene Guffey, Cardwell Guffey, Rayne Guffey)). To his children he was everything. He was an amazing father and he left them with a multitude of memories that they will always treasure. His greatest joy was being with his children. Although they will miss him terribly, they are thankful for the time they had with him and find comfort in knowing that they are returning him to our Lord Jesus Christ, where he will continue to watch over and protect them as their angel from above.
Bill is also survived by his grandchildren Tori Duncan (whose Girl Scout Gold Award he was the inspiration for) and Stephen Duncan ( whose career path he inspired). He loved his grandchildren and was so proud to be their grandpa a.k.a Billy Bob Jim.
Also left to cherish his memory are his sister Carol Kestranek, nieces Cheryl Kestranek (Leanne Kestranek), and Sue Kestranek.
In lieu of flowers or monetary donations, please show a random act of kindness to a veteran in his memory and/or simply spend time with those you love. Cherish your time with them because no matter how long they are with you, they leave too soon.
The family has chosen to gather privately to say their goodbyes.
A Celebration of Life Remembrance is being planned for family and friends in June in Cleveland, Ohio.
