Mrs. Patricia Ann Morgan Powers

Patricia Ann Morgan Powers, age 84, passed away on 12/25/19. She was the widow of Olney Hume Powers, Jr. Pat was a devoted wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma. She is predeceased by her mother, Isabel Schriver Andrews and the late Dr. Mallory S. Andrews.

She is survived by her son Olney Hume Powers III, daughter Elizabeth Powers Goll, husband Jeffrey W. Goll and grandsons Christopher S. Goll, of Wilmington, NC and Jonthan M. Goll , wife Erin Gallagher of East Northport, NY; daughter Sara Powers Ostrom (widow of Robert Ostrom) of Roanoke, granddaughter Rachel Ostrom Smith, husband Bradley Smith and great-granddaughter Evelyn Dianne Smith, grandson William Powers Ostrom and Kiara Williamson. Brother Mallory S. Andrews, Jr., wife Sandra, sister in-laws, Susan Moffett of Richmond, Va, and Betsy Armitage of Lexington Park, Md. As well as many nieces and nephews plus their children.

Patricia was born in Trenton, NJ. on September 1, 1935. She moved to Norfolk, Va. several years later. She graduated from Granby High School 1953, then attended Longwood College for 2 years. She then moved to Richmond, Va. and worked for the State Highway Dept. where she met her future husband.

She is a former member of the Roanoke Valley Junior League and worked at Stedman House Interiors for many years. She and her family attended St John’s Episcopal Church. She will be cremated and interred beside her husband at the St John’s columbarium. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations go to Good Samaritan Hospice of Roanoke. A special thank you to RN Allison, Chaplain Tammy, Social Worker Emily. A special mention to the caring aides and nurses at Pheasant Ridge who provided excellent care for Mom in her final days.

A memorial service celebrating Patricia’s life will be held 11 AM, Saturday, January 4, 2019 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 1 Mountain Ave SW, Roanoke, VA 24016 with The Reverend Mary Mackin officiating.
