Mrs Nina McCloud Turner

November 6, 1938 ~ January 1, 2024 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Nina Daphene McCloud Turner, 85, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024, in Jefferson City, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy E. Turner; daughter, Christine Harvey; and brother, John McCloud. Nina is survived by her two daughters, Rebekah Sours (Lee) and Rita Sterling (Justin); three stepchildren, Colette Crandall (Craig), Sherry Kalisky (Ken), and Joseph Turner (Deidre); four grandchildren, Matthew Harvey (Miranda), Leah Sours, Emmalee Sours, and Julee Sours; three siblings, Alice Justice (Billy), Carter McCloud (Linda), Norma Villars (Roland); and lifelong best friend, Peggy Garner.
Born November 6, 1938, in Russell County, VA, Nina was the daughter of the late Josie McCloud Harris and Grover Cleveland McCloud. Nina spent her early years in Russell County and came to faith in Jesus as a young adult. This became the foundation for the rest of her life. She lived in Roanoke, VA, most of her life and was a long-time member of Valley View Wesleyan Church and Emmanuel Wesleyan Church.

Nina and Billy married on June 5, 1971, and the two started their family. She was a dedicated wife and mother. After the unexpected passing of her husband in 1991, Nina focused her efforts on raising her three daughters and ensuring each received a college education.

Nina worked as a daycare teacher at Children's Discovery Center in Roanoke, where she poured her heart into the lives of many children. In her leisure time, Nina enjoyed sewing, preparing large Christmas dinners for family, watching Andy Griffith Show reruns, and listening to Evangelist Billy Graham preach. She took great pride in having read the entire Bible many times in her life.
Nina will be remembered as a kind and strong woman of faith with the heart of a servant, as well as for her devotion to family, and for her many contributions to the community.
According to her wishes, Nina will be laid to rest at the Turner-Richardson Family Cemetery beside her husband, Billy. A graveside service will be held Friday, January 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Turner-Richardson Cemetery on Yellow Mountain Road in Roanoke County.
