Maxine Marie Martin Turman, 78, of Roanoke passed into God’s hands on Tuesday, January 17, 2017.  She was born November 29, 1938 – a daughter of the late Rabe C. Martin and Bessie G. Reed Martin.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Williams; two sons, Ronald L. Bowen and Gary A. Williams; one grandson, Douglas Williams, Jr.

Family and friends were Maxine’s love and joy.  She was a volunteer at Virginia Veterans Care Center for many years.  Her smile and laughter lit up any room.  She was a dedicated Wife, Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Sister.  Surviving are her husband of 30 years, Robert “Bobby” Turman; brother, Olen Martin; children, Donald L. Bowen (Louise), Brenda Wright (Herman), Paul Williams, Jim Williams (Debbie), Doug Williams (Rita) and Arthur Williams (Debbie); 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 20, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM at Lotz Funeral Home-Roanoke, 1001 Franklin Road, Roanoke.  A Celebration of Maxine’s life will be held at 1PM on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Lotz Funeral Home-Roanoke with Pastor Joseph Peters officiating.  Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
