Mr. James Rawley Thurman Jr.

James Rawley Thurman, Jr., 76, of Roanoke passed away Monday, March 21, 2022. He was a son of the late James Rawley Thurman, Sr. and Altha Mae Mabes Thurman. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Pat Thurman.

Surviving are his son, Jim Thurman, III and his wife, Kim; two grandchildren, Jamal Thomas and Bentley “Sambo” Stalnaker; and two nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Rockingham Court United Methodist Church, 4615 Bryan Road, Roanoke, Virginia 24014.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Friday, March 25, 2022 at Lotz Funeral Home, 1001 Franklin Road, Roanoke. A celebration of James’ life will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Lotz Funeral Home with Reverend Nathan Colwell officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton.
