Mr James Garland Mefford

James Garland Mefford, 21 years old and better known as "Jamie" or "JMeff", passed away on Wednesday, December 7th, 2022.

Jamie was born on September 30th, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital in Norton, VA, to Rebecca Mefford. Jamie was the youngest of three children. He was a 2020 graduate of John I Burton High School in Norton. When he wasn't gaming on his PS5, Jamie loved playing basketball at the park with his friends (and sometimes his siblings if they were prepared for the challenge). Jamie had a great sense of humor and could always make us all laugh when we were having a bad day. His goofy laugh was just so infectious! Jamie was an awesome friend, a great son, and an even better brother bear.

Jamie is survived by his mother, Rebecca Mefford; his siblings, Johnny Diets Jr. and Kimberly Diets (all of Norton, VA); maternal uncle, James Ray Mefford; and several cousins and special friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Billy Garland and Patsy Ann (Bloomer) Mefford.

Jamie impacted many through his actions, love, and kindness. He touched so many hearts in a way that was silent but powerful. He will be in our hearts forever. Nothing loved is ever forgotten or lost.

A celebration of life is planned for December 20, 2022 at 6 pm with a special service scheduled for 7 pm at Esserville Community Church with Pastors Jim and Danny Smith officiating.
