James Atwood Kimball

James “Jim” Atwood Kimball, 66, of Roanoke, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021

Jim was born and raised in Maine and Massachusetts then moved to Virginia 31 years ago (1990) and has lived here ever since. 

Jim is preceded in death by his wife; Linda Joyce Kimball, parents; Richard and Mary Kimball, daughter in-law; Betsy Kimball, grandson; Atreyu Kimball.

Surviving is his sons; Josh Kimball and Justin Kimball, daughter; Lisa Shackleford and spouse Anjy, sisters; Debbie Orff and Carolyn Schmall, grandchildren; Sage, Rogue, Garrett, Zen, Errett, Adalind, best friend; John Petrie, and numerous other loved ones.

Jim was a free spirited hippy rocker musician. He loved watching the Boston Bruins, playing cribbage, and making people laugh. He was a great storyteller and a collector of many things but nothing was more important than his family, friends and music. He will be greatly missed but we gain comfort knowing he is back with his wife running around and dancing the night away.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 pm, Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Lotz Funeral Home, 1001 Franklin Road, Roanoke. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, June 6, 2021 at Lotz Funeral Home Roanoke with Pastor Butch Hammed officiating.
