Glenn Allen Gilmer, 56, of Roanoke passed away Monday, January 31, 2022. He was a son of the late Robert Allen Gilmer and Linda Seamster Dawson. He is survived by his daughter Alexandra Volpone and her husband, Brian Wheeler. To many he was Glenn the property manager, always around to help. Whether he showed up with a hammer or a hug, he was there when you needed him. To others he was Glenn the friend. He loved playing games - poker, board games, card games, Scrabble, really anything with a healthy dose of competition. He brought people together around card tables and dinner tables, in breweries and bars - Glenn wasn’t just part of communities, he created them. To the lucky few he was family - a loving nephew and son, the world’s best dog dad to Dexter, and the world’s best human dad to Alex. Maya Angelou said “I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” No words can describe how Glenn could light up a room or how he could make you feel, but if you knew him, you’ll never forget it. We will miss him deeply.

A memorial service celebrating Glenn’s life will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Lotz Funeral Home, 1001 Franklin Road, with Pastor Brian Geiser officiating. Burial will be private. Online condolences may be made at www.lotzfuneralhome.com
