Edna Chisom Simpson, 95, of Roanoke passed away Friday, February 8, 2019. She was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ and member of Riverdale Baptist Church, serving as youth director and choir member. She was the daughter of the late James William Chisom and Edna Elizabeth (Lizzie) Scott. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Carlyle Rodgers Simpson and brothers, Alton L. “Bud” Chisom, Charlie L. Chisom and Harry E. Chisom; sisters, Virginia “Ethel” Atkins and Ruby Kelley.
Surviving are her step-son, Roger L. Simpson (Darlene); granddaughter, Sarah C. Plantz (David); grandson, Scott Carlyle Simpson (Dayna); great-grandchildren, W. Tanner Smoot, Walter Scott Simpson and Kathryn Elyse Simpson; sisters, Edith Fisher and Alice Aliff; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 2 to 4 pm, Sunday, February, 10, 2019 at Lotz Funeral Home, 1001 Franklin Road, Roanoke. A celebration of Edna’s life will be conducted 11:00 am, Monday, February 11, 2019 at Lotz Funeral Home Roanoke Chapel with Pastor David Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Alleghany Memorial Park.
