Donald Michael Horn, 69, of Wirtz passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Geneva Pomatto and a nephew, Kenneth “Kenny” Whitt.
Surviving him are his wife of 29 years, Brenda Underwood Horn; two sons, Matt Fink (Lisa) and Marvin Fink (Lashell); grandchildren, Jessica Ransome (Lee), Chelsie Fink, Nathaniel Fink, Kaleigh Breeden (Kaleb) and Mandy Froelicher (Connon); and a beautiful mess of greatgrandchildren; two brothers, a sister, and several nieces and nephews.
Anybody that knew Donald either called him Don or Pawpaw. Don had an outdoorsman soul about himself. He loved wildlife, hunting and fishing. Don found joy in teaching young kids, mainly his grandchildren, how to live off the land and utilize natures resources. If you knew Don you would know that he loved his kiddos very much. He cared about his family and enjoyed having them around. Don was always down for a good ol’ hand of poker, some late night fishing off the dock, or a successful deer drive. He made a friend everywhere he went. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to his neighbors or anyone in need. Don will be dearly missed by his family and friends. The family asks that you keep them in your prayers in the weeks to come as they navigate this new journey without him.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 11to 1pm, at Lotz Funeral Home, 1001 Franklin Road, Roanoke. A celebration of Donald’s life will be held at 1pm following the visitation with Pastor Justin Likens officiating. Burial will be private.
