Mrs. Celia Lidia Socarras Laza

Celia Lidia Socarras passed away peacefully at the age of 78 in her home surrounded by family on the morning of Thursday, June 30th, 2022 from natural causes. Born on March 27th, 1944 to parents Celio Socarras and Lucía Laza in Havana, Cuba, she grew up and raised her family in Pinar del Río, Cuba prior to moving to Roanoke, Virginia in August of 1995. 

Celia Lidia was affectionately known to her family as “Mimi” and to her friends as “Lidia”. She was a loving wife who sincerely cared for her family and enjoyed baking and cooking. She was a talented seamstress and known to all as an amazing woman and angel. 

Celia Lidia is survived by her loving husband Pedro Pablo “Macho” Morales of Roanoke, her three children Vladimir Crespo of Roanoke, Adriana Morales of Roanoke, and Carlos Alberto Morales of Macon, Georgia; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren, in addition to her family residing in Cuba.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her oldest brother Pedro Manuel Socarras Laza. 

The family invites family and friends to attend a graveside service and celebration of Celia Lidia’s life on Tuesday, July 5th at 10 am at Evergreen Burial Park at 1306 Summit Avenue, SW, Roanoke.
