Timothy James Ryan, 69, of Roanoke, Virginia passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 6, 1948 in Plattsburgh, New York to James Robert Ryan and Gloria Bessette. He did two tours in Vietnam, one in country at the Danang Hospital and a tour on the USS Oriskany.

Following his Navy career, he spent the rest of his career in the medical field. He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Ryan; children, Michael, Katie and Jordan and Sharri Maynard; grandchildren, Mikayla, Michael, Carlee, Thomas and Ryan; brothers, Thomas John and his wife, Dee, Terry Joe and his wife, Marilyn; niece Erin and nephews, Owen and Stephen as well as many cousins.

He loved his family, friends, country and every aspect of life with an unbridled passion and energy. There isn’t a person that ever met him that will ever forget him. He could carry on a conversation in depth with anyone about anything and make you laugh until you cried. He was the life of the party. We all were so fortunate to have known him. He will spread love in heaven and we will continue to spread his love here on earth.

A military memorial service will be held on 1:00 PM, Friday, May 12, 2017 at Southwest Virginia Veteran’s Cemetery in Dublin.
